Arionna’s Amazing April

April has been an exciting month for Battery Creek High senior Arionna Russell, who is seeing her hard work pay off in a big, big way.  Of her scholarships and recognitions, two honors announced in April stand out.  Earlier this month, Arionna was named one of South Carolina’s two most promising young scientific leaders by the State Superintendent of Education, and she will represent South Carolina at the National Youth Science Camp in Washington.  Only two weeks later, Arionna was recognized as a Gates Millenium Scholar.  The lengthy application, which included eight essays, pushed her to the top among 52,000 competitors nationwide, with only one of every 52 applicants earning a scholarship.  Arionna plans to use her scholarships to earn a biomedical engineering degree, most likely at Georgia Tech.
