Make-up Dates

Two instructional days missed when schools were closed during Hurricane Irma have been rescheduled for Saturday, Nov. 18, and Saturday, Dec. 16.

District schools were closed Monday-Tuesday, September 11-12.  South Carolina state law requires minimum numbers of instructional days or hours, depending on the grade levels of students.

Initial proposals to use the first two of four Board of Education-approved potential weather make-up days (Nov. 11 and 18) were revised to accommodate parents, students and staff who wanted to participate in Veteran’s Day and St. Helena Heritage Day observances on Nov. 11.

In a calendar decision unrelated to the storm, the final day of the school year (May 31) has been changed from a half day of instruction to a full day.

The revised 2017-18 calendar is available on the district’s website.
