The South Carolina
Department of Health and Environmental Control requires specific
vaccinations for students based on their age. It is very important to
check with your doctor and make an appointment for your child to receive
any required vaccinations. Proof of immunization must be provided to
your school. Forgetting to schedule vaccinations may prevent your
student from returning to school on time at the beginning of the year.
Has your seventh- or eight-grader had their Tdap vaccine yet? If so, please bring the immunization
record to your school nurse before the first day of school. South Carolina law
requires all seventh- and eight-grade students to have a dose of Tdap vaccine.
The Tdap vaccine, which protects students from tetanus, diphtheria, and
pertussis (also known as whooping cough) is a NEW requirement for ALL
seventh and eight graders.
South Carolina State Law
If you do not show
proof of vaccination before the school year begins, your child
will not be allowed to attend school. If you have any questions or
concerns, please contact your child's school or school nurse. Please
share this information with your friends, family and neighbors.
For more information about immunization requirements, visit the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control or call your child’s doctor.
