About the Foundation

The Beaufort County School District Foundation for Educational Excellence was established in 2007 to support student enrichment activities and projects that are beyond regular school budgets through Innovative Teacher Grants.

What kind of projects do Innovative Teacher Grants fund? They can be as diverse as providing monies to purchase books, CD players and CDs to help improve students' listening, fluency, and comprehension or buying supplies to build a robot. An innovative grant can be more complex such as establishing an eco-habitat for native species. What all grants have in common is that they are the “extras” that spark inquisitive minds.

When and how are Innovative Teacher Grants awarded? The Foundation for Educational Excellence awards grants once a year in the fall.  Contact  fexgrants@gmail.com for specific deadlines.

You can find  grant application and instructions on our website. Grants are scored and awarded by a committee from the Foundation for Educational Excellence.

How are monies raised to fund these Teacher Grants? The Foundation for Educational Excellence coordinates an annual fundraiser, Jewels & Jeans.  They also receive support from benefactors that include The Bargain Box, The Rotary Club of Okatie, The Italian American Club, Friends of Callawassie Island and individuals who donate.
