What is CATE?

Career & Technical Education serves students in grades 7-12 through state-approved course offerings leading to career concentrations, work-based learning opportunities, and/or industry credentials. Whether planning to attend a four-year university, a technical college or being prepared to enter the workplace, CATE courses and pathways can help students graduate college and career ready. 

Benefits of CATE

  • Expands technical course offerings across Beaufort County high schools that emphasize high skill, high wage and/or emerging careers.

  • Aligns with business & industry needs within the county, region, & surrounding areas.

  • Increases work-based learning opportunities to assist students in developing employability and soft skills.

  • Offers high school courses that lead to an industry recognized credential in addition to the high school diploma.

  • Provides transitions for training beyond high school to include technical courses at the community college level.
