PTAs, PTOs, and Booster Clubs

A PTA is a formal membership organization where participants pay dues and abide by state and national rules. A PTO is an independent group, i.e., single-school or school district that operates under their own set of bylaws and focus on local, as opposed to national concerns. Booster Clubs are independent organizations, typically coordinated by the parents of students, to host events in an effort to raise money (bake sale, car wash, etc.,) for school clubs.
