Teachers back at work, preparing classrooms

in advance of next Monday’s first day of school

BEAUFORT – More than 1,500 Beaufort County School District teachers returned to work today to prepare their classrooms for next Monday’s first day of the 2016-17 academic year.

Thousands of parents, meanwhile, are in the final stages of preparing their children for the first day of school.  More than half of the district’s 22,000 students have already been registered for classes online, and the rest are expected to be registered this week.

Parents can find comprehensive information on the district’s Back-to-School Headquarters website (http://beaufortschools.net/cms/one.aspx?pageId=211779) ranging from school supply lists and school uniforms to new bell schedules and state-required immunizations.

More than 12,000 students ride a school bus to or from school each day, and the district’s expanded Transportation website (http://beaufortschools.net/cms/one.aspx?pageId=1720340) offers complete bus route listings and schedules, a convenient bus stop locater tool and Transportation Office contact information.
